Morphology
- Annual herb, 10-75 (100) cm tall
- Stems rather slender, glabrous. Leaf axils without paired spines.
- Leaves glabrous; petioles up to 10 cm; lamina 2-7 x 1.5-5.5 cm.
- Flowers unisexual, green, in cymose clusters; clusters in paniculate spikes about 2.5-12 cm long and 2-5 mm wide
- Capsule subglobose, 1.25-1.5 mm
- Seeds black or brown, shining 1-1.25 mm
Propagation
Agricultural usage/ importance
- A. viridis is quite to very common and can be a serious weed in virtually any crop
- Used as a medicine
Control method
- Butachlor applied pre-emergence at 2.0 to 2.5 kg ha-1 gives excellent control. Post-emergence application of 2_4-D at 500 g/ha
