Morphological characteristics


  •      Stem & roots -Grows in thick stands. A poor forage plant. An erect, slightly shrubby plant, 2 to 4 feet high, often branching
  •      Seeds - Seeds 20 to 30, grayishInflorescence - Flowers yellow streaked with red, small, pea-shaped, 20 to 50 in each terminal and lateral raceme
  •      Fruit- Pods 1-1/4 to 2 inches long, yellow at maturity, twisting and dehiscent when dry
  •      Leaves- Leaflets 3, ovate oblong, thin, green and smooth above, pale and obscurely silky beneath
