Definition
Biodynamics is a holistic, ecological, and ethical approach to farming, gardening, food, and nutrition (Biodynamic Association).
Biodynamic Agriculture;
- Is an advanced form of organic agriculture with an emphasis on food quality and soil health
- Focuses on spiritual exposure/cosmetic energy
- Doesn't use synthetics
- Astrological influence is considered with biophysical factors
Biodynamic Agriculture includes;
- Improvement of soil health - Major driven factor
- Soil revitalization
- Improvement of soil fertility
- Self sufficiency
- Improvement of crop resistance
History of Biodynamic Agriculture
- Rudolf Steiner is the pioneer of this system (1861 - 1925)
Rudolf Steiner |
- Rudolf Steiner described the planetary rhythms on the growth of plant and animals
- He identified the regeneration of the forces that work through the soil to the plant
Aspects Considered in Biodynamic Process
- Living organisms exist in equilibrium and any change to equilibrium leads to changes
- Spike like animal body parts such as horns continuously exchange cosmic energy
- Some body parts such as horn, skull and bladder of animals are use in biodynamic preparations (These are commonly know as 'kems' - කෙම් ක්රම in Sri Lanka)
- Influence of moon and other planets are considered in this agriculture system
